Aki Sasamoto’s installation of heedfully-altered found objects and improvised performance explained her Centrifugal March; “Objects become humans with its centripetal force. Humans become objects with its centrifugal force,” she explained. It is an inquiry into the extent the human body can be transformed into a physical object, much like how our consciousness of a dead person can be turned into a memento. “Imagining my after-life as an object, I begin my travel along centrifugal force to mock a transformation into an object: a wooden bead, diamond necklace, green jumpsuit, or poem on a restaurant napkin.”
